At PS122’s studio residency in 2001, she developed work grounded in Chinese landscape and calligraphy. In 2003, her College Art Association lecture, INVISIBLE ENERGY, diagramed its connection with Asian techniques and philosophies. Her cinematic works connect news-media issues to scientific facts, personal to mythic stories, film and art histories, and other art forms to present a holistic view of the chosen theme. FOOL’s GOLD: CALIFORNIA ROADTRIP in an ELECTION YEAR, a feature film essay from 2014, “painted” a tableau portrait of American “greed”. It was granted a NYSCA finishing funds award. In 2010 she founded ANOTHER EXPERIMENT by WOMEN FILM FESTIVAL in NYC, (http://axwff.com) which screens experimental film by women (and some men) at Anthology Film Archives, through NEW FILMMAKERS NY. An online streaming web-site (http://axwonline.com), presents these works and pays the filmmakers immediately upon purchase. It also functions as an archive of women’s endeavors. An alternative experimental free association “kitchen“ band born at Punk Island 2014. From trance lyrics to primal screams, NYOBS pierces the restive soul with mindblowing inducements of tonal & aural synthesthesia. 5:30 PM - 6:45 PM DJ Bobby G Painter, founding member of ABC No Rio and member of Collaborative Project including such exhibitions as Times Square Show and the Real Estate Show, which led to the creation of ABC No Rio. 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM Mark Street and the Lost Orchestra (Bradford Reed, Nikki D’Agostino, Jim Coleman) LOST NOTES FROM HOME - Shot in New York over the course of 5 years, superimposing video and 16mm filmed vignettes culled from the theater of the street. Live improvised music challenges and teases the visuals so that the two are in spirited conversation. Inspired by the tradition of street photography, this piece allows small quotidian moments to flourish. Mark Street is a NY-based filmmaker whose work has appeared at the Tribeca (5 times), Sundance, Rotterdam, New York, London, San Francisco, New York Underground, Sarajevo, Viennale, Ourense (Spain), Mill Valley, South by Southwest, and other film festivals. Bradford Reed is an American multi-instrumentalist, experimental luthier, and member of avant-garde band King Missile III. Nikki D’Agostino is widely recognised as one of Australia’s most entertaining female Accordionists. Keeping the rare art alive and educating souls with the world sounds of the Piano Accordion. 24	25	26	27	28	29	30 Xianix Barrera Flamenco Dance Company Xianix Barrera Flamenco Dance Company June 30, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Le Petit Versailles Garden, 346 E Houston St, New York, NY 10009, USA Xianix Barrera, a native New Yorker born to Puerto Rican and Dominican parents, had her first exposure to music and dance at an early age with studies in ballet, modern, jazz and percussion. Xianix began flamenco studies in New York and deepened her in Spain with distinguished masters including Andres Peña, Concha Vargas, Carmen Ledesma and Raquel Heredia among others. She has worked and performed with such prominent artists as Isabel Bayón, Ángel Muñoz, Soledad Barrio and Juan Ogalla and has taught master flamenco workshops for the Joyce Theater and New York City Center, respectively. In 2012, Xianix Barrera Flamenco debuted to their sold-out production, Sabor Flamenco, in Spanish Harlem. She is a recipient of the 2018 SU-CASA grant, a community arts engagement program funded by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Xianix has been touring internationally with Noche Flamenca since 2013 with their wildly successful production of Antigona, a flamenco adaptation of the Sophoclean tragedy. Most recently she performed in Sevilla, Abu Dhabi and Copenhagen alongside flamenco legend Jose Suarez “El Torombo”. She currently teaches flamenco dance to adults and children as a teaching artist for New York City Center, Ballet Hispanico and Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana in New York. See more details •
