MAY 20 - The Lantern X LVNEA - Maison ignis fatuus
May 20th, 2018 @ 7:30pmLe Petit Versailles Garden NY NY 346 East Houston Street between Avenues B + C subways: F - Second Avenue J/M/F - Delancey StreetLAVENDER — GRASS — HEAVY CREAM — PISS — BLOOD — DIRT — FEAR;—It all goes back to the ground.Riches of the Earth, efflorescent, gilded, processed, overpriced. It is all churned back into its beginnings. When you mix all of the colours of the palette you get a murky brown. When you combine all forms of luxury, just as well, a film of filth reveals itself.[The golden calf, when milked long enough, eventually produces a sanguine liquid.]Everything is rot, deep down, and lavish surfaces are made that way to mirror, and, like Narcissus, drawn you in, to drown—Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.---Maison ignis fatuus (Stephanie E. Creaghan & Florence Vallières) is pleased to present La lanterne (2016-2017) in collaboration with LVNEA (April Lea), a video work that considers the impact of interpersonal and institutional gaslighting, accompanied by a scent score ‘played’ during the projection.Maison ignis fatuus is a video production house founded in 2016 by Creaghan and Vallières. LVNEA is a Montreal-based perfume-maker.--Le Petit Versailles events are made possible by Allied Productions, Inc., Gardeners & Friends of LPV, GreenThumb/NYC Dept. of Parks, Materials for the Arts, the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, and the Office of City Councilwoman Carlina Rivera.
