Maya Suess

Maya Suess is an artist and arts administrator. Currently the Director of Fellowship and Public Programs at apexart in lower Manhattan, she served as Managing Director of Flux Factory–an artist-run residency space in Long Island City Queens–from 2016 to 2021. Her videos, drawings and performances have been shown in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. She programs and emcees the “Unprofessional variety show,” a quarterly cabaret, and has work in the collection of the Leslie Lohman Museum. Maya is a member of Umbrella House, a coop and ex-squat, and is committed to keeping queer art alive and thriving in the the Lower East Side. She was born on a small island off the coast of western Canada, and holds a BFA in Media Arts from Emily Carr University, and an MFA in contemporary performance from Simon Fraser University.
