AUGUST/SEPTEMBER EXHIBIT: Skinny legged guy that wear ridiculously tight girls jeans - JONATHAN BOUTEFEU

AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 17, 2018Le Petit Versailles Garden NY NY 346 East Houston Street between Avenues B + C subways: F – Second Avenue J/M/F – Delancey StreetRAIN OR SHINEGarden open hours: Thurs-Sun 2-7pmOpening Reception - August 23, 6-9 PMThe complacent pigeon found his home. And it is a bar called Richard's Florida, it’s just off the Williamsburg Bridge and is sponsored by Carapils... Soon thereafter, dans Le Petit Versailles a Belgian artist with a sophisticated thigh gap met that pigeon just north of Houston on the other side of the bridge. The pigeon’s gait is wonky, he was tired from his waddle up from Delancy. With the Styrofoam-like weightlessness the two discussed denim, trend tunnels, and the cheerful cultural vacancy they enjoy and champion."And who doesn’t need tweezers with a lifetime guarantee, referee-quality whistles, and high-grade steel galvanized mop buckets that refuse to corrode?""One of his best-selling brooms sells for just shy of $20, but some sell for $59.95. Folks can buy brooms for less elsewhere, but that would mean sacrificing quality — what with bending bristles that will fall out too quickly, he said."Dans Le Petit Versailles, materials may include concrete, Styrofoam, a curator from Kickstarter or the Wythe Hotel, a bicycle lock, Carapils, your outfit for Sunday Funday, flannel, and those dudes you didn’t want to talk to in college but are the pigeon’s neighbors! Pigeons mimic the decrepit hip? See for yourself. Have a pils! Bask in the avian derivative life! We will meet you there at Le Petit Versailles.BIOJonathan Boutefeu’s work is project and situationally based, thus his work is informed by the social and practical setting of a given place. His sculptural objects often involve dry humor, subtle social commentary, and exaggerated symbology. His work references play, commodity, and art history--with a nod towards mainstream cultural consumption. Boutefeu studied at Iceland Academy of Art, Reykjavik, The New School, New York City, and Ecole de Recherche Graphique, Brussels. Recent exhibitions include If you build it, they will come at Komplot, Brussels; Jonathan Boutefeu at Luncheonette, Brooklyn, and PLANT B at Parc de la Fonderie, Brussels.--Le Petit Versailles events are made possible by Allied Productions, Inc., Gardeners & Friends of LPV, GreenThumb/NYC Dept. of Parks, Materials for the Arts, the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, and the Office of City Councilwoman Carlina Rivera. LPV Exhibitions are made possible with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
