August 18th, 2012 marks the 20th year since Brian Taylor's death of AIDS related illnesses. We will remember him in a screening of: "6 Feet, Dancers That I Know and Love"(23 minutes), a film by Carl George featuring Peter Cramer, Jack Waters, and Brian Taylor;and "The Blue Dresses" (approx 5 minutes) choreographed by Brian Taylor and danced by Peter Cramer, Jack Waters, and Brian Taylor a video document of the 1983 performance at The Jane West Hotel for A's Des Refuses .The screenings will be followed by remembrances of things past in video clips, slide show, and live actions.

Brian Francis (AKA “Biff” ) Taylor was a dear friend and a co-founder of Allied Productions, Inc. He was a contemporary of many noted Lower East Side denizens since 1981.He was a member of the core group of co- directors at the alternative Lower East Side arts, culture, and social space ABC No Rio. Among the collective of No Rio’s second generation directors to which Brian was central beginning in 1983 were Peter Cramer, Carl M. George, Gordon Stokes Kurtti, Kembra Pfahler, Philly Abe, Tabboo!/ Stephen Tasjian, Jack Waters, and Biff's brother the activist and co-producer of WBAI Pacifica ‘s OUT FM Brad Taylor. Taylor’s participation in the shaping of a current cultural model is exemplified in such current venues as Le Petit Versailles , the community garden based in New York City.Biff was a co-founder and principal member of the performance collective POOL, known in the mid to late ‘80s as the resident dance company of The Pyramid Club. POOL frequently appeared on the bill with performance art legend Ethel Eichelberger with whom Biff established a lasting friendship. He choreographed for Ethyl Eichelberger's solo caberet.and assisted in Eichelberger’s other profession as a theatrical hair designer and wigmaker.A member of the world renowned choreographer’s company, Anna Sokolow's Players, Brian was a BFA graduate of the Juilliard Dance Division where he studied with: Hanya Holm, Alfredo Corvino, and Helen Mcgeehee. He studied independently with Ernesta Corvino, Don Redlich, and Janet Panetta, now the ballet mistress for Pina Bauch Dance Theater of Wuppertal. He held a Masters Degree in Dance from Texas Womens University at Denton. Biff’s dancing and choreography was a fixture on the vibrant ‘80s nightclub circuit including numerous engagements at the landmark Danceteria. He was a member of The Trocadero Gloxinia Ballet directed by Larry Ree AKA Madame Ekatherina Sobetskaya, a company that included the cross-disciplinary artist John Kelly. Brian’s concert and art engagements included Squatt Theater, A’s/Des Refusees, Franklin Furnace, and The Dancespace Project at Saint Mark’s Church.
