HANSeL/GReTeL presents: Cinderella

SATURDAY, AUGUST 3rd, 7PM @ LPV

HANSeL/GReTeL, a storytelling experience fusing dance music and live narration, invites you to Le Petit Versailles for a magical immersive work-in-progress telling of “Cinderella.” In the garden, Prostalgia HD—Hunter Petree and Delilah Friedler— will workshop a new edition of their “sharty” (show-party) focused on the story of Cinderella. This fresh and raw preview of a new telling will feature Hunter’s narration over Delilah’s DJing, plus an opening set by another DJ, exploring the story’s themes of hope, transformation, and the longing for love as refracted through the 1950 Walt Disney adaptation.

Over the past year, Prostalgia HD has been throwing the sharty HANSeL/GReTeL across NYC clubs. This episodic, durational unraveling of the classic “Hansel and Gretel” story revisits narratives of ancestral trauma and the Brothers Grimms’ foundational impact on America by inviting partygoers to step into the roles of Hansel and Gretel as they move through the story on a dancefloor. The Narrator (Hunter) reads their original interpretation of the folktale over a live set by the DJ (Delilah), typically layered with appearances by different performance artists and DJs. Come dance with us in the garden and let’s start unraveling this story together!
